What is BitAngels?

BitAngels is an open, thriving community of skilled blockchain professionals, companies, developers, investors, and enthusiasts, with local events in key cities and online communication and collaboration to create growth and connectivity in the blockchain space. It is the premier investor network for the blockchain industry.

The brainchild of industry leaders Michael Terpin and David Johnston in 2013, BitAngels has grown from being the world’s first angel network for digital currency startups to the largest one with 10 active chapters and 30-40 expected to be active by the end of 2019, 100+ by the end of 2020.

Each BitAngels event features a keynote speech or panel, networking and short pitches by startup founders to an audience of investors, business leaders, and the local blockchain community. These events provide investors the unique chance to learn about new cryptocurrency investment opportunities in person.

Events are hosted in key cities worldwide with the shared vision to create growth and connectivity in the blockchain space through in person and online communication and collaboration.

What are BitAngels events?

BitAngels events are where blockchain professionals, investors, and enthusiasts gather to connect and keep their fingertips on the pulse of the blockchain space. BitAngels events are run by City Leaders in each city, and they usually last around 2 hours, with time set aside for presentations, company pitches, and networking.

What kind of networking happens at BitAngels events?

Every BitAngels event provides time for networking. We encourage all participants to get to know each other and strengthen their local community in order to foster trust, knowledge, and collaboration. The BitAngels network exists partly because we saw a need to build these communities, as confidence in the space was decreasing, so we encourage event attendees to connect with each other in a way that helps strengthen and validate the space. You can contact any City Leader in any location or go to an event at another location and find more connections.

Who attends BitAngels events?

BitAngels events attendees include blockchain professionals, companies, developers, investors, and enthusiasts. Events are open to the public unless otherwise stated.

Do all events require a membership to attend?

No. Each city event is open to the public. If restrictions exist, they will be noted in the event listing. In some cases, we request attendees to be accredited investors. Accredited investors can sign up for an Investor Membership through the BitAngels website application.

What cities have BitAngels chapters?

Current BitAngels cities are listed on our site.

What if my city does not have a BitAngels chapter?

If your city is not listed on our site, you can suggest a City Leader through our form, or apply yourself. We are focused on major hubs for blockchain, and if we don’t have a presence in your city yet we hope to have one soon. For smaller cities, we may defer them to a larger city in their state.

What kind of companies present at BitAngels?

We are focused on early stage blockchain companies, and open to tokens, equity, or other. We apply due diligence to all companies who present at BitAngels events to make sure they are high quality presentations.

How do I apply to present at a BitAngels event?

Please prepare your materials, specifically your business plan and presentation, in a way that shows you put in the effort to demonstrate a serious commitment. To apply, fill out the application form on our website, and check “Company - Pitch at an Event” in the “Application Type” section.

What are the requirements to apply as a company to pitch at a BitAngels event?

The requirements are listed on our application form, and you must fill in or confirm the required sections on the application. The more information you supply, the more likely it is that you will get a response. Feel free to visit our Presenter Criteria page beforehand to ensure your deck satisfies the qualifications.

How long is each pitch/presentation?

Companies give 5 minute pitches/presentations at our BitAngels city events, and are prepared for a few minutes of questions after they present.

Is there a fee to present?

There is no fee to present at BitAngels events, unless noted otherwise for special events.

Why should my company present at a BitAngels event?

(1) Community, (2) access to investors, and (3) publicity. Companies can expect to meet an engaged audience and find time to network and make meaningful connections within the thriving, supportive BitAngels community. In some cases, an investor may take a keen interest in your endeavour. You may also meet service providers and professionals to help with your existing projects. You may also potentially have your company info and presentation shared with our Investor Members digitally, globally. Currently, the BitAngels Membership is open to accredited investors interested in a unique deal flow experience and on-demand access to the BitAngels ecosystem.

How do I become a member?

Complete the BitAngels Application, and check off “Investor membership” under “Application Type”.

How much is a BitAngels membership?

Currently membership is invite only, and we will list a price at a later date. Fill in the BitAngels Application as an investor, and we will evaluate your application prior to giving you an invite to our system.
